COURSE DESCRIPTION:

CHEM 100 is a three credit hour course (no lab) designed as an introduction to chemistry to prepare the student for additional course work in chemistry. CHEM 100 is recommended for students with minimal math preparation and without a year of high school chemistry. The course includes the use of the scientific calculator, the solution of elementary chemical problems, the study of the metric system, fundamental atomic structure, chemical formulas, and chemical equations.

COURSE PREREQUISITE:

Students are expected to have successfully completed MAT 100 (Computational Math), MAT 102 (Introduction to Mathematics), or the equivalent. It is strongly suggested students be enrolled simultaneously in MAT 104 (Elementary Algebra) and CHEM 100. Other chemistry courses are recommended for students enrolled in MAT 108 or higher.
